Explain yourself. Alice: I'm afraid I can't explain myself, you see, because I'm not myself, you know. Caterpillar: I do not know. Alice: I can't put it any more clearly, sir, because it isn't clear to me. Are you really interested, or are you just poking your nose in places where it might not belong? It doesn't particularly matter to me, but one should really think through their reasons for going places and doing things. For the most part, this journal is friends-only. There are rare exceptions, and even a very few are actually public. If you wish to friend me, go right ahead - you do not need my permission to do so. However, should you wish me to friend you back, there are a few things you should know: If you have a disagreement with someone else who is on my friends' list, keep it off of my journal. Email me privately about it if you wish, but do not flame people on my journal. Flaming other people here is a quick method of being banned from posting here. When I do post here, I generally use filters. I update the filters regularly, as when new folk complete the sorting poll. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. My LiveJournal, which until a few months ago was my primary journal. Due to changes in the management and policies at LiveJournal, I've largely withdrawn from there other than being able to respond to my friends posts there and a few communities. *** Now, about me... I once considered being a history teacher. I majored in Religious Studies in college and took a lot of Child Development, Business Administration and pre-Law courses. However, I did not graduate. At some point in the next decade or two, I may change that fact. I miss being able to get advice from my parents; they've been dead since 1988 (dad) and 1998 (mom). I love just about any kind of ethnic food - except Thai or Viet Namese. I've been married for over 25 years to Raven aka Katrina, aka Nephir, aka Aislinn of Amberwood. We married about six weeks after meeting, and I am eight years older than she. I am currently owned by three cats, three adult children who are not quite children any longer and a spouse. But slavery is still illegal in this country. Jim Croce and I agree on this: "I don't like spiders and snakes." I enjoy reading as a major source of relaxation. It doesn't much matter what the subject matter is, I just like to read. Much the same can be ssaid of my musical tastes. I've been known to listen to Sigur Ros, Dar William, Tanita Tikarum, Cindy Lauper, Oingo Bingo and the soundtrack to "Once More With Feeling" from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, for days on end, on shuffle. One of my favorite movies is "Paint Your Wagon", another is "The Sound of Music". "Torch Song Trilogy", anyone? I like some action movies and a lot of crime shows (Law & Order, NCIS, CSI, Cold Case, Medium, Homicide...). Our garage is larger than our house by about 400 sq ft. But the house has indoor plumbing and electricity, whereas the garage has neither. I have far less hair on my head than I would like, and more everywhere else that I would not like. I like good single malt whiskeys like Oban. I collect dust. Well, it certainly seems that way at times. I'm an horrible housekeeper. I dislike driving in wet weather or at night. However, I love to drive, and do so for relaxation. I was a Russian translator while in the Navy, and formerly was passably fluent in several languages, including English. I have a significant loss of hearing, primarily in the human vocal range, but if you are whispering, I will probably be able to hear you just fine. I am a disabled veteran, a diabetic, have chronic pain, asthma, arthritis, fibromyalgia and PTSD. I frequently mention these topics here; if you are disturbed by this possibility (or the reality of it, there is a simple way to avoid reading it. You're an intelligent person, I am certain you can figure that out on your own. If you think I'm ignoring you, it's more likely that you didn't get my attention in the first place. When I choose to ignore you, I'll let you know. I have practised the Craft for over 35 years. Maybe some day I'll get it right. For over 30 years I have followed a path of Traditional Witchcraft as the primary manifestation of my spirituality. I am also an initiate of the Wica, and have worked in other religious forms as well. My major field of study in college was Religious Studies. Over the past 3+ decades I have contributed articles and columns to a number of publications, most of which relate to these topics. I occassionally write poetry and short stories and inflict them upon certain of the readers of this journal. (Note comments about filters, above.)
